RARE
What makes this so rare? Run a search for "Nichols & Stone Mahogany Hitchcock Chair" and you will be hard pressed to find one that:
A) isn't stenciled
B) isn't black
B) is solid mahogany
D) as old as this
E) in as good condition
F) has its original rush seat
These are sturdy, well-crafted chairs and I have two of them.
The N-S Stamp
This particular stamp on the chair dates it to the 1930s
Pillow Back? Where's the Pillow?
"Pillow" refers to the little arched, flat section at the very top of the chair.

"Nichols and Stone Furniture has a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1857 by Ebenezer Nichols and Abner Stone. The company initially produced wooden boxes but soon expanded into the furniture market.
