(SOLD) Antique Sikes Philadelphia Banker's Chair

$650.00

Because we know Sikes was only in Philadelphia, PA for a short period after moving there from Buffalo, NY (1904-1906) before moving back in 1916, we can easily date this chair's age to over 100 years.

This beautifully constructed chair has not been restored however, it is as solid and functional as the day it was made. The chair's underside bears the model number and the words "SOLID WALNUT". Its mechanisms allow it to swivel, adjust the tilt and the height. Its "saddle seat" (Sikes words, not mine) make it ergonomically comfortable for bankers dating back to before WWI to sit all day and make an honest living.

While older than the 1940s, a similar chair featured in a Sikes catalog from that period listed the chair for $65. That is over $1K in today's money.

Makes no squeaking noises. Has original Bassick casters which roll freely on wheels still intact. Only one part has been replaced which is a bolt (shown in one of the pictures) on the underside of the chair. This chair is an absolute treasure.
